Annites' Cadets are celebrating 70 years since their inception in 1953. Adding to the grandeur of this milestone, the St. Anne's College Cadet Platoon has secured the First Runner-up position at the 2023 Provincial Assessment Camp of Defence Cadets in the North Western Province.
A total of 40 cadet platoons from the 4th, 14th, and 35th battalions participated in the competition, which spanned from August 26 to 29. The event took place at the National Cadet Corps Training Centre in Rantambe.
With this recent achievement, St. Anne's College has qualified to compete in the 2023 Hermann Loos Assessment Camp scheduled for October. In this upcoming event, they will vie for the Hermann Loos Challenge Trophy, a prestigious award presented at the major annual competition.
Both the Provincial and Hermann Loos Assessment Camps are organized by The National Cadet Corps (NCC) of Sri Lanka.
As we celebrate 70 years of Annites' Cadets, we cordially invite you to support our platoon in October at Rantambe as they strive for the esteemed title.

Three students from St. Anne's College have qualified to participate in the 2023 Under 17 Sri Lankan Youth League Cricket Tournament. The triad consists of Buddhima Sahan, Geethika De Silva, and Yashmin Jayasundara, all of whom will be representing the Dambulla Team.
The tournament, organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association, is scheduled to commence on August 21st and will take place across four venues in Colombo. The final will be held on August 29th at the NCC Ground.
Among the trio, Geethika, who also participated in the Under 19 category of the League earlier this year, finds himself in a busy schedule as he'll be playing a warm-up match against the West Indies Under 19 Team on August 25th, which overlaps with the League's schedule.
The Dambulla Team, to which our players belong, is set to face off against Colombo South, Galle, Kandy, and Colombo North on August 22nd (at SSC Ground), 24th (at CCC Ground), 25th (at Bloomfield), and 27th (at Moors), respectively.
We extend our best wishes to all our players, hoping that they will shine with their talents during this League.

We are deeply saddened by the sudden and tragic loss of Aircraft Engineer and Flying Officer Peshan Warnasooriya from the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF), who was an alumnus of St. Anne's College.
The tragic incident occurred when the trainer aircraft carrying Peshan crashed shortly after takeoff from the Sri Lanka Air Force Academy in China Bay, Eastern Province. Also on board was Wing Commander Tharindu Herath, an alumnus of our neighboring Maliyadeva College, who faced the same fate as Peshan.
He was an old boy from the 2015 batch and joined the Sri Lanka Air Force just 2 years after leaving the College. He also completed his higher education at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University.
Peshan, as an Air Force officer, soared the skies above to keep us safe on the ground. His memory will forever remain in our hearts, just as the vast sky above.
May the brave souls of our dear Peshan Warnasooriya and Tharindu Herath from Maliyadeva Rest in Peace and attain the Supreme Bliss of Nibbana. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of both as we offer our final tributes.
