1st Runner-up team at All Island Western Music competition posed for a group photo
It was music to the ears as we heard that our Western Music Students emerged as First Runner-up in the 2022 All Island Western Music Competition organized by the Ministry of Education.
The spirited team posed with the Reverend Father Principal Chandana Hapuarachchi and the Teacher in-Charge, Ms. Ferdita Tennekoon. -

2023 (2024) Sri Lanka Schools Senior Karate Championships – Phase 1: Medal Breakdown

In the ongoing 2023 (2024) Sri Lanka Schools Senior Karate Championship, athletes from St. Anne's College secured notable gains at the end of Phase 1, registering 1 Gold Medal, 2 Silver Medals, and 1 Bronze Medal.
Medal List:
- Gold: Shanuka Alahakoon (6, 5, 4 kyu Kata)
- Silver: Pruthivi Vitharana (Black Kata)
- Silver: Gagana Gallage (3, 2, 1 kyu Kata)
- Bronze: Kata Team
The team event comprised the same trio, with all competitions held within the Under 18 age category. The tournament was organized by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Schools Karate-Do Association.

Achala Jayasundara won Best Sergeant of the Year award
Achala Jayasundara emerged as the Best Sergeant of the Year, while the St. Anne's College Western Cadet Band ranked 5th in the 2022 All Island Western Cadet Band Competition.

Adithya emerged victorious at Novices Division Chess Championship
We are waking up to another win by an Annite Chess player as Adithya Ganehiarachchi emerged as the Champion in the 2023 Sri Lanka Novices Division Chess Championship - Kurunegala District.
Grade 9 student Adithya outplayed 143 contestants in the competition organized by Knights Flame Chess Club on behalf of the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka which was held at D. S. Senanayake Central College, Uhumeeya.
He is undefeated in the entire tournament with 6 points from a maximum of 7 with 4 wins and 2 draws and he got an impressive performance rating of 1309.
This competition is one of 16 Divisional Championships that were held in parallel this month as the preliminary stages of the Sri Lanka Chess Federation National Cycle.
It's already a good start to this year's Annites Chess Calendar, as not too long ago we were able to report that St. Anne's College Chess Teams bagged 3 wins in the Provincial Team Chess Championship. -
Amiru and Trimal won All Island Recorder Solo
Amiru Lindula Aberatne and his accompanist, Trimal Perera, won first place in Recorder Solo at the 2023 All Island Schools' Western Music and Dance Competition.
They participated in the Senior section of the A2 School category and earned a total of 80.3 percentage points as the final score.
The competition was organized by the Ministry of Education and took place today (September 10) at the National Institute of Education (NIE), Maharagama.

Annite Eastern Band's successful debut
St. Anne's College Eastern Cadet Band ranked 4th at the Selection Camps of the 2024 All Island Eastern Cadet Band Competition for Colombo, Gampaha, and Kurunegala district schools.
As a result, the newly formed Eastern Cadet Band advanced to the final round in their first-ever representation in this competition.

Annite Karate Team placed 2nd runner-up in the All Island Kata Teams Championship
St. Anne's College Karate Players punched their way to emerge as the Second Runner-up in the Kata Teams Tournament at the 2023 Sri Lanka School Senior Karate Championship. Having won 5 other events in the same competition, this victory further cements the influence of St. Anne's College in Karate on the national stage.

Annites amassed 4 golds, 1 silver and 1 broze at Junior Karate Championship
St. Anne's College shines at the Sri Lanka Schools Junior Karate Championship by winning 6 medals including 4 gold and becoming the second runner-up of the tournament.

Annites bested St. Thomas in Under-19 Division 1 Cricket Tournament
An impressive all-round display by Annites saw them win the first innings as the match ended in a draw.
St. Thomas College, Matara in response to St. Anne's College's first innings score of 300/9(declared) fell behind managing to score only 158 and 107/6 in the first and second innings respectively.
Spirited bowling performances by Annites that matched their batting performances forced St. Thomas to follow-on after finishing their first innings.
The encounter took place at the 2022(2023) Two-Day Under-19 Division 1 Inter-School Cricket Tournament for Tier A teams.
