2023 Grade 5 Scholarship Examination: Results Overview
• Total Candidates: 108
• Candidates Above District Cutoff (154): 31 (28.7%)
• Candidates Scoring Above 100: 104 (96.3%)
• Highest Score Achieved: 183This year marked the highest cutoff percentage recorded in our College's recent past. St. Anne's College currently holds the highest cutoff mark among Provincial Schools island-wide for Grade 06 admissions based on the scholarship examination. This recent achievement reaffirms and justifies our standing.
The exam itself took place after a challenging academic period. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, coupled with the prevailing unrest in the country at the time, led to intermittent closures of educational institutions. This prompted a shift to remote learning, significantly affecting the proficiency levels of students, particularly those in primary education. It's important not to overlook this context when evaluating the results.
Acknowledgment goes to Reverend Father Principal Chandana Hapuarachchi, Deputy Principal of the Primary Section Mr. Meril Jayawardena, and our dedicated teachers. Their commitment and prompt actions to guide our students post-lockdown played a pivotal role. Appreciation extends to the supportive parents who collaborated in these efforts and our students for their perseverance through these trying times. Students showing such responsibility towards their education and lives at such a young age, is truly commendable.
The latest result reflects collaborative commitment. We aim to build on this and further enhance performances in the upcoming year.
